My dogs, Sukey, Bess, plus young Bonnie Jean, and I are located on Squirrels’ Nest Farm in the mountains of western North Carolina. We demonstrate the sheep herding skills of Border Collies at festivals and fairs of all types, Scottish celebrations, special events, parties, and community programs throughout the southeast. We also have “Fun on the Farm” events right here locally on our Squirrels’ Nest Farm.
Because it’s a fact: For Border Collies, there’s nothing more thrilling or fun than herding their sheep.
It’s all about instinct — instinct, training, and… intimidation. When young Bess intimidates with the eye the sheep all but bow in submission. And when agile Sukey displays her come bye skills, the sheep have no choice but to obey. Young pup Bonnie Jean is the eager apprentice. For Bess, Sukey and Jean, this is what life is all about!
When you come and participate in a demo right here on the farm you will have had such fun that you will go home telling your friends all about it.
And once Sukey, Bess, Jean and I have demonstrated the art of sheep herding at an annual event, we are invited back year after year. Why? Because festival planners witness first-hand how enthralled attendees are and how engaged they become in the interactive Q&A plus petting session that follows. It’s a win-win for all participants and for my dogs, who absolutely love their work!
